Regional CQI
What do you think?

The RETAC recently received word that we will
receive funding to continue to develop our
Regional CQI/Regional Medical
Direction Program.

In January the Foothills RETAC and the Mile-High RETAC
joined together with the Denver Metro EMS Medical
Directors to work together to address regional prehospital
issues. The two RETACs together have 55 prehospital
transporting agencies and 34 Medical Directors for those
agencies. Not all of the Medical Directors in our RETACs
currently participate in the DMEMSMD group, but we hope
to bring ALL of them together to work on issues facing EMS
today through this program, and build on the great work that
the DMEMSMD group has accomplished so far.

Randy Hamm, a Paramedic/RN with tons of great
experience, has been hired by both RETACs to start
building this program. Many of you will hear from Randy
shortly if you haven't already. He will be out there finding out
what our agencies are currently doing with CQI, and working
with the Medical Directors to ascertain how to best combine
efforts for regional data.

For our RETAC, Drs Peter Vellman, Todd Dorfman, and Jeff
Beckman will lead the efforts. They will work with Randy and
the RETAC Clinical Care Committee to develop this program.

It is important to note that this has absolutely nothing to do
with usurping the agency Medical Directors or their
authority. It's a way for the Medical Directors to work
TOGETHER for things such as identifying best practices,
and gathering regional data.

Much more to come as we move along with the program.

Stay tuned!
